The time has finally come!
It's been a few months, between my job as a hiking guide and a turbulent pregnancy, we're now in February.  We had been looking forward to a new walk with the babies for a long time!

The day was not ideal for such small children; it was cloudy, the wind was strong, but with a dozen or so participants eager to walk in nature, we ventured to the furthest tip of the Sorrento Peninsula anyway! Yea!

We found ourselves walking with the 'loyalists' of the walks with the children and also with some 'new' participants!

It was with great happiness that we opened the dances to a 2023 that I hope will be full of experiences in nature to be shared with many families from the Sorrento Peninsula, the Amalfi Coast, and beyond, because anyone who wishes can participate as long as they have small children (from 0 to 3/4 years old) and are equipped with a safe carrier to choose from: a sling, a baby carrier, or a backpack.

This walk was particularly beautiful because the little ones were just under 2 months old and yet they participated peacefully in the excursion, giving their parents a moment of growth and sharing with those who, like them, love nature!

Are you a new parent and would you and your family like to experience this nature experience together with your newborn baby?

If a mother and father wish to experience nature with their baby, they can do so from the very first months.

I advise new mothers, in order to get off to a peaceful start, to get the OK from their gynaecologist, regardless of whether the birth was by caesarean section or not.
The mother is the first one who must feel ready to face this type of activity, albeit a simple one, with peace of mind.

Obviously for a newborn baby, as opposed to an older child, special care must be taken.

It is important to be well organised already at home:

  • wear comfortable clothes useful for breastfeeding,
  • bring a thermos flask with hot water in case the mother does not breastfeed
  • do not forget the necessities such as nappies and wipes for frequent changes, all available in a rucksack.

It is strongly recommended to have someone with whom you can share this experience so that you are also supported in carrying the necessities and can enjoy this experience in nature even more serenely.

For transporting infants I recommend the sling carrier as it is a soft, snug support suitable for such small bodies.

Other recommendations:

  • watch the weather,
  • wear suitable shoes,
  • do not venture on routes that you are not familiar with and/or that are too rough.

Pre-departure tips:

  • breastfeed and change baby's nappy before setting off so that he or she feels dry, full and calm,
  •  start the walk close to the baby's nap time

These little tricks are useful so that the baby can relax and fall asleep peacefully during the walk, cradled by the movement.

The last walk had two 45-day-old babies!! Now we just have to wait for the next dates to meet and walk together with the babies
