Gallura, in particular, offers truly unique hiking experiences all year round: the explosion of colors, the intensity of the scents of the Mediterranean maquis, and the aura of a timeless past that lingers among the granites and nuraghes convey unforgettable emotions.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Olbia
Arrival at Olbia airport, with a brief visit to the Costa Smeralda. Walk in the village and, weather permitting, a short trek to Pevero. Later, transfer to the agriturismo for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Punta Don Diego Loop
Transfer to Punta Sardegna for a loop trek to Punta Don Diego with a visit to Cala di Trana. Picnic and two stops for relaxation and swimming. On the way back, a stop at the Baragge viewpoint. Dinner and overnight stay in the agriturismo.
Day 3: La Maddalena Archipelago
Transfer to Palau port and embark for the La Maddalena archipelago. Once on the island, a bridge connects to Caprera, famous as the last residence of Giuseppe Garibaldi. The trek includes visits to the most beautiful coves, such as Cala Napoletana and Cala Candeo, with its World War II fortifications. In the afternoon, visit the town of La Maddalena. Return to Palau and transfer to the agriturismo. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Capo Testa and Valle della Luna
The trail from Capo Testa to Valle della Luna is a very scenic route, ideal for immersing yourself in Sardinia's wild nature and breathtaking views. The path winds through impressive granite formations shaped by the wind, Mediterranean vegetation, and views of the crystal-clear sea. Valle della Luna, named for its lunar appearance, is a hidden valley among the rocks, famous for its mystical atmosphere and changing colors at sunset. Lunch in Capo Testa at a seaside restaurant, followed by a visit and free time in Santa Teresa di Gallura, an enchanting village located on the northern tip of Sardinia, facing the Strait of Bonifacio and nearby Corsica. Return to the agriturismo. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Monte Limbara and the village of Aggius
Excursion to Monte Limbara, with various trail options and difficulty levels, depending on the group's preferences. Picnic at the summit. On the way back, visit the village of Aggius, considered one of the most beautiful in Sardinia and Italy. Dinner and overnight stay in the agriturismo.
Day 6: From Costa Paradiso to Cala Tinnari
Panoramic trek along one of the most spectacular stretches of the northern coast, from Costa Paradiso to Cala Tinnari. With gentle ups and downs, the trail follows the coastline through a varied landscape colonized by juniper, mastic, rockrose, and helichrysum. The granite coastline offers extraordinary colors: the red of the rocks, the green of the Mediterranean vegetation, and the turquoise of the sea. Once at Cala Tinnari, enjoy a picnic and free time to relax on the beach or engage in activities such as pedal boats or renting inflatables. Return to the starting point and transfer to the agriturismo. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Arzachena
Path through the Rena area, rich in tafoni and fascinating rock formations, leading to the Lu Branu agriturismo. A step back 200 years to rediscover the life and culture of ancient Gallura. An authentic Stazzo Museum from the 1800s, an authentic reconstruction of their family’s homestead from two centuries ago, recreated in meticulous detail. Lunch with zero-kilometer products. In the afternoon, return to the agriturismo or a short visit to Luogosanto. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Departure
Depending on the flight schedule, a short trek or cultural tour can be arranged. Options include visiting the Pedres Castle and the Giant's Tomb of Su Monte e S'Ape, near Olbia and the airport.
